By the time you finish reading this short paragraph, at least one child will have died from a lack of accessible, clean water. Did you know that you could be a part of relieving the world’s water problem in conjunction with climbing a mountain? You have the opportunity to become a part of a trip to the Republic of Tanzania to attempt the summit of Africa’s highest peak, Mt. Kilimanjaro. Join a team of adventurers on an expedition while raising funds for – and awareness of – the water needs in Liberia. The Last Well is currently is interested in men and women who would like to be a part of our team to Tanzania from August 6-16, 2009. Mt. Kilimanjaro Joint Missions Trip

Global Impact Tanzania / Kilimanjaro – June 2009

This coming June The Last Well and Global Impact, the Missions Ministry of McLean Bible Church, are partnering on a 2-week missions/climbing trip to Tanzania. Week one of the trip will include missions outreach projects in the local town of Arusha. There the team will work with Manna on various projects. Week two will an attempt of summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro – Africa’s Highest peak. Kilimanjaro reaches an amazing 19,330ft and is one of the fabled Seven Summits.

Two teams totalling 26 members will be making this trek to Africa. All costs associated with climbing during the second week will come out of each team members own expenses. No raised money through The Last Well or Global Impact will be used for climbing. Out of the total money raised by each team, a portion will go to The Last Well’s mission of providing clean water to Liberia as well as sharing Living Water. The remainder of the raised funds will go to Global Impact/MANNA to support their ongoing efforts in world missions.

Mt. Whitney

Mt. Whitney, CA trip was Apr 15 – Apr 19, 2009. The Last Well’s third climb was a great introduction to the sport of mountaineering for beginning climbers, as well as a great trip for seasoned mountaineers. Mt Whitney is in California’s Eastern Sierra Nevada range near the town of Lone Pine. It is the highest peak in the lower 48, at 14,505ft. The Last Well took a 5-day trip which included overnight high alpine camping. Twelve of 18 climbers summitted this beautiful peak in perfect early spring Sierra conditions. Each climber raised a minimum of $500.

Mt Elbrus

Expedition Elbrus – COMPLETED July 2008

The goal of Expedition Elbrus 2008 was to raise over $200,000 in support of THE LAST WELL, a Movement to provide clean water to an entire nation in the name of Jesus. The team will attempt to summit Mt. Elbrus, the highest mountain on the continent of Europe in order to raise awareness and support for the LAST WELL MOVEMENT. As the launch event for THE LAST WELL MOVEMENT, each team member of Expedition Elbrus 2008 is committed to being a fundraiser first, a climber second. Through the efforts of the team, Christ’s name will be glorified around the world as his followers provide clean water to an entire nation and preach the Gospel to the communities that are served by these wells. Each member of the Expedition Elbrus 2008 team is:

MT WASHINGTON NH Trip. Feb 26 – Mar 1, 2009. The Last Well has organized a team of fifteen men and women to make a winter ascent of one the tallest and most formidable mountains on the east coast. The team will travel to North Conway, New Hampshire, where they will spend one night before starting their ascent. They’ll be using the winter route of the Lionhead trail and will travel approximately half the distance to the summit before camping in primitive shelters in subzero temperatures. The following day, they’ll attempt the 6,288 foot summit, weather permitting. “This trip provides great ‘big mountain’ experience in a smaller, more controlled environment,” says team leader Thomas Heffernan. ”Mt. Washington has some of the most extreme winter weather in the world, yet, does not have the altitude challenges of some of the taller mountains. The ascent route chosen also allows for the team to never be more than a mile from the safety of a shelter. There is also easy access to summit weather reports. This climb will give new climbers who hope to join the Last Well on its other summit attempts great winter climbing experience.” The minimum fund-raising commitment for each climber will be $500.
